Casa da Timpeira

Located next to Vila Real, this wonderful house of the 14th century, which is home of the Azevedo family, was enlarged in the 18th century and recently restaured. It has always belong to the same family, with the exception of a brief lapse of time during the 19th century, after which it was reacquiered by the grand-father of the current owner. It is full of historical memories. During the 19th century it was an active political centre, around the Lord Mayor António de Azevedo Castelo Branco. Father António de Azevedo also lived here. He was tutor of the greatwriter Camilo Castelo Branco, in homage of whom a library of his being built in the house.
